Overview

In order to understand hair loss, one has to start by understanding hair structure, the reasons for hair loss, the types of hair, and the available treatment options.

Human hair is made up of a protein called Keratin. The diameter of a hair fiber varies between 0.05 and 0.09mm. The hair has two parts: the hair follicle and the hair shaft.

Hair loss is caused by a number of factors, ranging from genes, aging and hormones. Male hair loss and female hair loss are caused by different reasons. The most common cause is genes, and this leads to the so called ?male pattern baldness?. In females, the baldness follows the pattern called ?female pattern baldness?.

Hair Loss:

1- Men: hair loss is a common feature of aging in men. Fifty percent of men by age 50 years and 40% of women by menopause have some degree of AGA.

2- Women : approximately 40% of the female population suffers some kind of hair loss. The usual pattern appears below.

Hair loss Treatment options :

1- Treatment using medications: a number of medications are available for the treatment of hair loss in males and females. These medications are highly effective in many patient categories.

2- Mesotherapy: this is a special procedure which involves the use of various medications and vitamins, in addition to natural elements, to enhance the quality of hair and prevent hair loss.

3- Follicular Unit Transplantation : this is the most advanced method of hair transplantation worldwide. It involves the surgical movement of permanent hair with its roots to a balding area.

•  Hair transplantation is a permanent solution for hair loss. It is done under local anesthesia and is considered an outpatient procedure. The patient does not feel pain, and is rather comfortable after the procedure.

•  Hair and follicles are removed from the donor area of permanent hair along the back and sides of the head. Then, this hair is transplanted into the desired balding area in a natural looking pattern.

•  Hair transplantation is procedure that takes approximately 4 - 8 hours depending on the extent of the planned procedure.

Steps Involved in the HT process:



A- Hair retrieval from the donor area : this provides hair that will be used for transplantation. This hair is resistant to balding and does not fall out once transplanted.

B- Preparation of follicular unit under the microscope : this involves the dissection and cleaning of the follicles.

C- Drawing of the hair line : this is the most artistic step in the process of hair transplantation. The hair line varies from person to person, according to the shape of the face, age and patient preference.

D- Hair transplantation: the recipient area is where the hair is transplanted, in its naturally-existing forms, following the hair line designed by the physician and filling the desired bald area.

Is the look Natural? Because we have highly specialized physicians and experienced staff, in addition, to using new techniques, the hair grows naturally. The density, direction and look are specific to each individual undergoing the procedure, and as such the look is as natural as can be!

When does the hair grow? Usually, hair starts to grow 1-3 months after the transplantation procedure. The hair is your own and appears natural and can be styled just as your own natural hair.

What areas can also undergo transplantation? Hair can also be transplanted on the beard, moustache, and eyebrows.

What about hair transplantation repair? We perform procedures to repair the hair that was transplanted using older techniques or that does not look as the patient desires.
