1-What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is an alternative medicine that treats a patient in a natural way, by stimulating his organ's reflexes.
2- To which civilization reach back the origins of Reflexology?
The origins of Reflexology reach back to the Chinese and Indian civilizations and the ancient Egypt as evidenced by inscriptions found in the physician's tomb at Saqqara in Egypt . The translation of the hieroglyphics are as follows: " Don't hurt me ." The practitioner's reply: " I shall act so you praise me. "
3-What is ?Integral Reflexology?
Integral Reflexology is a branch of alternative medicine that works not only on the physical and energetic level of the patient but also on his emotions and mind, that s why it is more complete and effective. It releases tensions and creates harmony in the different systems of the body:
The nervous, the lymphatic, the digestive, the endocrinous,uro-genital, respiratory and circulatory systems.
It has prints of the Chinese medicin: Integral reflexologists use a chinese chart for the stimulation points on the back, and they work on the ears of their patients.
4-How did Reflexology developed and specially the Integral Reflexology?
Many Doctors worked and made researches many years ago specially in the beginning of this century (researches were made to discover the organ's reflexe point and the benefit the patient get of the treatment).
Dr Fitzgerald was an American oto-rhinologist, he noticed for example that by pressing on some points on his patient's fingers and hands, they got a congestion relief of their sinus.
Eunice Ingham was an American physiotherapist, she discovered many points and created some manipulations that use integral reflexologists today:
-The Circulation Manipulation (on the feet)
-The Lymphatic Manipulation (on the feet).
Stanley Burroughs created what he called the Vita-flex. He could make adjustment for the hips and make the length of the feet equal.
Integral reflexology got into Quebec from one of Stanley Burroughs students that was French Canadian.
5-Where does the practitioner of integral reflexology work?
Integral Reflexologists stimulate reflexes on the feet, hands, back, clavicles, ears and head.
6-Today are there enough researches about Integral reflexology and is it important to have some?
I.R is the only therapy that can make hips adjustment (to the length of the feet). Many people have to fix their paints when they buy them .Some people have the imbalance after an accident, or because of neck or back problems. Sometimes they are not aware of it, neither are their Doctors. This imbalance leads to back, neck or knees pain. The Doctors treat the back and neck, which relief the pain for some while, but the original cause is still existing and is not treated. The patient carry the imbalance his whole life and get ups and down remedies.
7-Are there any side-effects for the I.R. treatment?
-There is no side-effects at all, it supply only balance for the systems.
-Some patients, rarely, can get disturbed only at the beginning ,but will be relieved when the toxins are released to outside of their bodies, that's why it is important to drink enough water when you get Reflexology treatments.
-It is forbidden to work on:phlebitis patients feet, pregnant woman (on her uterus reflex points which give her uterus contractions)
On the other hand, women who don't become pregnant are encouraged to try some reflexology treatment, because it stimulates her endocrinous and genital systems.
8-What is the range of age of the patients who receive Integral Reflexology (I.R) sessions?
There is no limitations at all.
-It helps children to calm down when they are hyperactive, and stimulate and energize those who needs stimulations in their nervous system or any other system.
I already gave sessions for 1 year old boy to help him sleep at night and he got excellent results.
Young patients can get help in control their bladder at night. They can be given
Small ball and taught to roll it under their feet in a special zone, or roll it between their hands, it is amusing and effective!
Adjustment for the feet(made on the arch) are given to all ages.
The Government of Health of Quebec , in Canada , supported the administration of I.R therapy to elderly patientsin the Institut Universitaire Geriatrique de Montreal . It was revealed that I.R improved their health and well-being. Researches were made under the supervision of Doctors. I.R treatments were given to patients suffering from CVA(cerebral vascular accident), hypertension, polyarthritis, arthrosis ,alzeimer , osteoporosis, broken hips.
After the treatment, each night, they had less pain, they slept better without getting their NPR medication. Their appetite, respiration and intestine movement improved. Their articulations moved better. This was written in the quebecer magazine ?La Gerontoise, vol.16, nb 1, January 2005, p 37-41.
9-What happens scientifically to the patient who receives an I.R. treatment?
Physically talking:The practitioner stimulates reflexes that release energy waves in each organ and part of the body.
These waves can be released in three dimensions types of movement :
The First Dimension: The energy is transmitted in a vertical directions: up-down(that s why if knee is hurting the practitioner works on his hip also)
The Second Dimension: Horizontal direction: Left-Right. (Stimulation for both side for a pain in the left side and vice versa)
The Third Dimension: across : Front-Back.
The Fourth dimension : is time .
The Fifth Dimension: is God, the creative intelligence force that we don t talk about it often. He is the origin of the universe, His force restores the disturbances created by Man.
Another kind of energy is released by Correspondence with the brain.
When reflexes on the ears are stimulated in some way, the EMF (electro magnetic field ) of the body is balanced, the both hemispheres of the brain are balanced also, the blood circulation and the memory are improved. The EMF balance affects the biochemistry transfers into the cells of the body and help them detoxinate themselves.
10-Which diseases I.R treats?
It relieves muscles and articulations pain, migraine, hypertension, chronic fatigue, insomnia, anxiety and depression, allergies and asthma and many other disorders: It treats all the systems of the body.
It helps the patient to reduce his dose of medication and sometimes get rid of it. The doctor always is the one who decides.
11-What is the final thing you would like to say or ask maybe?
1- I ask the different therapists to always respect the ethic and professional code they studied (respect the confidential file of their patient).
2- Among the first lessons they study in B.S in nursing at ?Université de Montreal ? and other good universities, is the attitude of ?caring?: it means to take care of the patient emotionally and respect him as a human being regardless of his color, race, religion or social position.
3-Among the first rules to perform with the technique to the touch in I.R studied and applied, is to let it be full of compassion and love
In fact isn't it ?the healing touch?,lamsat chifa , it is only done when love is its governor.
